About the partnership: The State of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg entrusts the University of Luxembourg with the mission of organizing the “formation complémentaire des candidats experts-comptables“ and the “formation complémentaire des réviseurs d’entreprises“
About the Ministry of Finance: The Ministry of Finance of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg prepares and implements the budgetary, financial and fiscal policy of the State. In this capacity, the Ministry is also responsible for the public finances and the preparation of the budget. In addition, it defines the policy with regard to the financial sector, and is responsible for external relations with the various international financial institutions.

About the ‘Cooperation for Laos’ partnership: Since 2017, the University of Luxembourg, specifically the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance (FDEF) is actively cooperating in the field of legal higher education with the National University of Laos, specifically the Faculty of Law and Political Science (FLP) in the framework of an Inter-University Cooperation project which is an integral part of the Indicative Cooperation Program signed in 2015 between the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and Lao People’s Democratic Republic.
About the ‘Cooperation for Mali’ partnership: The cooperation actions with the partner universities in Bamako (University of Legal and Political Sciences, and University of Social Sciences and Management) aim at concrete and targeted support to the development efforts of advanced education and research. These actions broaden and reinforce the first cooperation undertaken by the University of Luxembourg and complement the fields of Luxembourg Cooperation in Mali.
About the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade: The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade defines and implements Luxembourg’s foreign and European policy. It coordinates the Luxembourg government’s external action. The Ministry acts in the best interest of Luxembourg and its citizens. It endeavours to promote a coherent approach towards diplomacy, defence, development and immigration.

About the Ministry of the Economy/STATEC award: The STATEC award is offered to the student with the highest Grade Point Average (average value of the accumulated final grades earned in courses and in the thesis over the degree) in the Master in Finance and Economics “Financial Economics” track. This prize is awarded by STATEC.
About the Ministry of the Economy: The Ministry of the Economy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is responsible for all issues relating to Luxembourg’s economic interests such as business, technology and innovation policy, promotion, development and diversification of the economy, foreign trade, and policy on the legal protection of consumers. Its mission is to ensure the competitive environment and internal and external growth by diversifying the structure of the economy, supporting private investment, innovation, research, and simulating the development of international companies.

About the partnership: Advanzia Bank has partnered with the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance to award one deserving and promising student within the Master in Finance and Economics with a fellowship for the duration of their studies. Advanzia Bank plans to continue to offer the fellowship opportunity every two years to one student, which includes a monthly stipend, an internship opportunity as well as the possibility for a summer job.

About the Award: This award goes to the student with the highest Grade Point Average (average value of the accumulated final grades earned in courses and in the thesis over the degree) in the Master in Finance and Economics “Risk Management” track.
About the ACA: Founded in 1956, ACA is the professional association of Luxembourg insurers and reinsurers. ACA has 141 members, including 86 insurers and reinsurers, of either local or foreign origins.

About the award: This prize is offered to the student with the highest Grade Point Average (average value of the accumulated final grades earned in courses and in the thesis over the degree) in the Master in Finance and Economics, Investment Management track.
About the ALFI: The ALFI is the official representative body for the Luxembourg investment fund industry and was set up in November 1988 to promote its development. The association plays a proactive role in leading industry efforts to turn Luxembourg into the most attractive international centre for domiciling and distributing investment and pension funds and the main gateway to the European and global fund markets.

About the Germain Dondelinger award: This award goes to the student with the best Master Thesis (all study disciplines), who fulfil the criteria of scientific excellence and innovative approach to the thesis problem. The Germain Dondelinger award was created by les Amis de l’Université to honour the late Germain Dondelinger, Government Commissioner to the University (2003-2014) and President of the Fonds Belval (2004-2014).
About the Portabella awards: The Portabella awards were created by les Amis de l’Université with the financial support of the Fondation Luis Portabella Y Conte Lacoste. The Portabella Academic Excellence Award is awarded to the Bachelor student (all disciplines) with the highest Grade Point Average. The Portabella Excellence Mobility Award is awarded to the Bachelor student (all disciplines) with the highest Grade Point Average during their mobility.
About the Rolf Tarrach Prize: The launch of the Rolf Tarrach Prize for the best doctoral thesis is initiated by the Academic Board of the University of Luxembourg in March of each year. Each faculty, through its dean, can propose a candidate to the AUL Board of Directors, which will then determine the winner.
About Les Amis de l’Université: Les Amis de l’Université du Luxembourg is a non-profit association founded in 2008 with a goal to contribute to the development of the University and promote its image regionally and internationally.

About the partnership: The University of Luxembourg signed a partnership agreement with the ATOZ Foundation in Luxembourg in December 2022, providing a scholarship & an award for the Master in European and International Tax Law students. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) sets out the ATOZ Foundation Scholarship, where one high-potential applicant to the Master in European and International Tax Law will be selected at the application stage to the Master programme. The MoU also sets out that a graduate of the Master in European and International Tax Law may be eligible for the award.
About the ATOZ Foundation & ATOZ: Established in 2012 and acting under the aegis of the Fondation de Luxembourg, the ATOZ Foundation’s mission is to support local and international projects, which are focused on education. Whether it be supporting biomedical research in a Luxembourg laboratory or helping children with learning disabilities succeed at school, the ATOZ Foundation aims to provide opportunities for learning and discovery at all levels.

About the partnership: In 2021, the Luxembourg office of law firm A&O Shearman signed a partnership agreement with the FDEF and the association Les Amis de L’Université to provide a fellowship and internship opportunity to two high-potential Bachelor students within the Department of Law: one outgoing and one incoming exchange student. In addition to financially supporting two students, A&O Shearman will also extend the internship and mentoring opportunities to other high-achieving students in their third and final year of the Bachelor in Law.

About the partnership: This partnership is set up as a fellowship offered by the Baloise Group in Luxembourg for up to 5 students enrolled in their 1st, 2nd or 3rd year of the Bachelor in Applied Management programme at the University of Luxembourg. It is intended for deserving students with high potential who will receive an allowance of 300 euros a month for the duration of their studies and this, up to 30 months. Students are also given the opportunity to do their mandatory internship within the Baloise Group in Luxembourg.

About the partnership: The University of Luxembourg as a partnership with the Bank of China for the support of the courses in the Department of Finance and events, the possibility of internship and placement to students, the participation in professional series as well as awarding the student with the best Thesis in the Master in Finance and Economics “Digital Transformation in Finance” Track.

About the award: The Barreau de Luxembourg sponsors two awards, bestowed upon the Bachelor and the Master in Law student with the highest-grade point average.
About the Barreau du Luxembourg: The Luxembourg bar association (Barreau de Luxembourg) serves its members, the legal profession and the public by defending the rule of law and advancing professionalism in the field. It counts 2,500 registered lawyers, defending the rights of their clients.

About the partnership: The Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance’s moot court activities are supported by the Luxembourg branch of the international law firm Clifford Chance. A generous annual contribution allows our participating students to travel to the competition locations, taking them across Europe and as far afield as Washington, D.C. In addition, lawyers from Clifford Chance attend practice sessions for selected competitions, giving students feedback on their pleadings and rhetorical skills, allowing students to benefit from their professional experience.

About the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF): The Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier is a public institution which supervises the professionals and products of the Luxembourg financial sector. It supervises, regulates, authorises, informs, and, where appropriate, carries out on-site inspections and issues sanctions. Moreover, it is in charge of promoting transparency, simplicity and fairness in the markets of financial products and services and is responsible for the enforcement of laws on financial consumer protection and on the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing.

About the award: Prize awarded to the student with the best Master thesis graduating from the Master in Quantitative Economics and Finance.
About the Economist Club Luxembourg: This organisation, which has existed since 1964, mainly aims to bring together professionals in economics, management and related fields in order to foster collegiality and solidarity. The association also promotes knowledge sharing through the organisation of conferences and seminars.

About the partnership: The ESA and the University are cooperating in the following areas:

About the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA): EIOPA’s mission is to protect the public interest by contributing to the short, medium and long-term stability and effectiveness of the financial system for the Union economy, its citizens and businesses. This mission is pursued by promoting a sound regulatory framework and consistent supervisory practices in order to protect the rights of policyholders, pension scheme members and beneficiaries and contribute to the public confidence in the European Union’s insurance and occupational pensions sectors.
EIOPA is an independent advisory body to the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union. It is one of the EU Agencies carrying out specific legal, technical or scientific tasks and giving evidence-based advice to help shape informed policies and laws at the EU and national level.
About the European Banking Authority (EBA): The EBA is an independent EU Authority. They play a key role in safeguarding the integrity and robustness of the EU banking sector to support financial stability in the EU.
About the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA): ESMA is the EU’s financial markets regulator and supervisor. The 2023-2028 strategy guides ESMA in its second decade. It builds on the successful development of ESMA since its establishment and reflects the evolving environment in which it operates.



About the partnership: The European Investment Bank and the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance cooperate in a number of areas, such as internships, teaching and research but also other professional collaborations and joint institutional initiatives. The mutually beneficial partnership helps both the EIB and the FDEF build on each other’s expertise and resources, profiting from each other’s proximity in the Luxembourg context. The EIB Institute is also a partner of the Certificate in Law and Regulation of Inclusive Finance.
About the EIB: The EIB is the European Union’s bank. It is the only bank owned by and representing the interests of the European Union Member States. It works closely with other EU institutions to implement EU policy. The EIB is the world’s largest multilateral borrower and lender, providing finance and expertise for sustainable investment projects that contribute to EU policy objectives.

About the partnership: The European Parliament “EP” and the FDEF signed a partnership agreement covering multiple areas.
Teaching part: The EP makes staff members available to the University for teaching in the Master in European Union Law and Litigation.
Internship programme: The EP makes internships available to students from the Master in European Union Law and Litigation. Five internships per year in the EP’s legal service.
Visits and seminars: The two parties will collaborate in organising student visits and joint seminars in EP’s premises in Strasbourg and in Brussels.
About the European Parliament: The European Parliament, is a public institution and the elected body of the European Union. The Parliament consists of 751 members elected by the people of the EU member states. Who work in close collaboration with the Commission and the Council in shaping the law and policies of the EU.

About the partnership: The University of Luxembourg signed a partnership agreement with Ferrero Group Headquarters in Luxembourg in July 2017 providing a framework for student stipends, internships, PhD research, and teaching activities. The Memorandum of Understanding sets out the Ferrero Fellowship Programme, with up to five promising Master students in the field of law, finance, economics, or entrepreneurship and innovation to receive a monthly stipend from Ferrero for the duration of their studies. This stipend is intended to cover accommodation costs for the students in Luxembourg. In addition, an Internship Programme facilitates Master students securing paid internships and gaining experience at this multinational company.
About Ferrero: Ferrero began its story in the little town of Alba in Piedmont, Italy, in 1946 and today the Ferrero Group is present with more than 41,000 people across 53 countries; it has 22 production plants around the world, of which three are part of the Michele Ferrero Entrepreneurial Project in Africa and Asia. Ferrero products are present and sold in more than 170 countries; they have become part of the collective memory and customs of many countries, where they are truly loved generation after generation and often considered as cultural icons.

About the partnership: In addition to outreach activities, the ABBL “Fondation pour l’éducation financière” has partnered with the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance (FDEF) to scholarships for the most promising students applying for the Master in Quantitative Economics and Finance. The ABBL scholarship may be divided into awards for up to nine successful candidates, including both full-time and part-time students. Laureates are selected based on academic excellence and motivation.
About the Fondation ABBL pour l’éducation financière: Founded in September 2016, its purpose lies in supporting and promoting financial literacy and training initiatives. The goals of the Fondation are fourfold:
- support and promote financial education in Luxembourg and abroad;
- boost vocational training in the fields of professional finance;
- sustain academic education via the University of Luxembourg; and
- foster research via the financing of projects

About the partnership: The Fondation de la Fonction Publique provides financial support for the research project ‘Les établissements publics au Grand-Duché de Luxembourg’, headed by Prof. Dr. Jörg Gerkrath.

About the award: The prize is given to the student with the best Master thesis on the topic of European Law.
About the Fondation du Mérite Européen: The Fondation is a Luxembourg non-profit association whose object is to recognise the achievements of individuals, or occasionally organisations, for their outstanding contribution to the advancement of the European ideal or for particular achievements of a transnational nature, over and above their strict professional achievements.

About the partnership: The Fondation Jacqueline Noel, under the aegis of the Fondation de Luxembourg, grants merit-based scholarships for recently graduated doctoral students of the University of Luxembourg who have defended their thesis in the fields of Economics or International Development.
About the Fondation Jacqueline Noel: The Fondation Jacqueline Noel was created in homage to Jacqueline Noel, a world citizen and fervent European. Jacqueline Noel shared the belief of Nelson Mandela, a figure whom she had the chance to meet during her career, that “education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Born during the German occupation, Mrs. Noel grew up to be a dedicated student, earning a Doctorate in Economic Sciences from the Université Libre in Brussels. She began her career as a researcher at the World Bank, then at the European Investment Bank.
The foundation was created in her memory by her dear friend in the hopes of perpetuating Mrs. Noel’s values and ideals, namely the belief that hard work and dedication can lead to fulfillment in one’s life while creating positive change for the benefit of all.

- 2021: Dr. Teresa QUINTEL for the outstanding quality of her thesis: “Managing Migration Flows by Processing Personal Data Within the Adequate Data Protection Instrument”
- 2022: Dr. Chrysa ALEXANDRAKI for the outstanding quality of her thesis: “Climate Finance Law through the Lens of Transparency and Accountability”
- 2023: Dr. Nicole CITERONI for the outstanding quality of her thesis: “Systemic Economic Crimes as a New Paradigm of International Offences – Towards an Evolution on Revolution of International Criminal Law?”
- 2024: Dr. Angelica FERNANDEZ for the outstanding quality of her thesis: “Algorithmic Enforcement in Social Media Platforms – Artificial Intelligence and Online Platforms in EU law”

About the partnership: Inspired by the ideals of Pierre Werner, the University of Luxembourg and the Fondation Pierre Werner together established a scholarship awarded to outstanding applicants from European countries (except Luxembourg) pursuing a full-time postgraduate degree in political science, law, finance or economics at the University of Luxembourg. The stipend is awarded annually and can be divided between up to four successful candidates based on the decision of the selection committee.
About the Fondation Pierre Werner: Named after Pierre Werner, former Prime Minister of Luxembourg and prominent European politician, the foundation aims to support research projects, studies, and conferences related to European integration, monetary issues, democracy or human rights, in any country of the European continent. These themes are closely related to the key issues on which Pierre Werner worked during his entire professional life, thereby strongly contributing to the edification of the European Union.

About the award: The prize is awarded to the student with the highest-Grade Point Average in the thesis of the Master of Wealth Management.

About the partnership: The University of Luxembourg and Jeppesen have agreed to share airline operation network data analytics.
About the Jeppesen: Jeppesen is part of the One Boeing community, focused on the needs of global defense, space and aviation customers from all markets, regardless of their equipment’s original manufacturer. With engineering, digital analytics, supply chain and training support spanning across both the government and commercial service offerings, they are positioned to keep passengers flying, and nations safe.

The Prix Joseph Azizi for the Master in European Union Law and Litigation.
About the award: Josef Azizi, former judge of the Court of Justice of the European Union presents this award each year to the 3 best students of the European Union Law and Litigation Master during the December graduation ceremony.

About the partnership: In 2022, Kingsley & Partners signed a partnership agreement with the FDEF for students in the Master in Finance and Economics, Master in Wealth Management (MWM) and students in second year of the Master in Law (all tracks). (The number of students corresponds to the number of students willing to participate. Participation is not mandatory). K&P is responsible for guiding students in their choice of first job, developing their professional and personal skills in the presentation of their academic career, and portraying a professional image to employers.

About the partnership: The Government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the University of Luxembourg founded the Luxembourg Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management (LCL) in 2015 in partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Center for Transportation & Logistics (MIT CTL). The LCL offers a 10-Month Residential Masters program (LSCM) Leading to a Master in Logistics and Supply Chain Management awarded by the University of Luxembourg, and a Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management Certificate, awarded by the MIT Global SCALE Network.
About the MIT CTL: Launched in 1973, the MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics (CTL) is a dynamic solutions-oriented environment where students, faculty, and industry leaders pool their knowledge and experience to advance supply chain education and research. The MIT CTL creates supply chain innovation and drives it into practice through the three pillars of their mission statement: research, outreach and collaboration.


About the partnership: PKF Audit & Conseil (PKF), the Luxembourg-based audit firm and the University of Luxembourg have signed a three-year agreement to provide fellowship and internship opportunities to students enrolled in the Master in Accounting and Audit, offered at the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance (FDEF). PKF Audit & Conseil is a member of the PKF International Network of accountancy firms with over 220 member firms in 150 countries.
