Research University of Luxembourg Institute for Digital Ethics (ULIDE)

Providing guidance on the ethical implications of digitalisation

Launched in January 2025, the University of Luxembourg Institute for Digital Ethics (ULIDE) is an interdisciplinary hub providing guidance on the ethical implications of digitalisation. The Institute strives to conduct application-oriented analysis, provide strategic policy recommendations, engage with diverse audiences and transfer knowledge.

As a transversal hub, we will bridge disciplines, foster collaborative research, and form alliances with digital ethics organizations worldwide. This collective expertise will be shared with the public in various ways. For example, our team is currently developing the framework for a National Digital Report.

Working areas

ULIDE is currently in its development phase. Its interdisciplinary core team represents five areas of expertise:

  • Digital Ethics (Human Agency versus Machine Agency, Ethical Trade-offs)
  • Digital Law and Regulation (Accountability, Equality)
  • Digital Democracy (Participation, Social Media and Public Sphere, Populism and Polarization)
  • Digital Culture (Artificial Intelligence, Human Autonomy)
  • Digital Literacy (Education, Inclusion)
