Assessment feedback questionnaire

The Assessment feedback questionnaire is focused on Bachelor and Master students, it consists of fourteen questions, plus two background questions to gather demographic information.

How to participate?

Participate at the end of every semester.

When and where are the results available?

Instructors who have received at least one feedback response for their course will get a report. The reports are made available online for instructors the day after the jury d’examen of the respective programme. No results are shared until all exam grades have been submitted and approved.

Purpose

Its purpose is to:

  • to contribute to the development and maintenance of high-quality learning experiences for all students;
  • to establish an easily accessible and regularly occurring space for constructive feedback;
  • to enhance the fairness and transparency of graded assessments.
  • to understand student perceptions and experiences with assessment in their courses.

The Assessment feedback questionnaire (formerly referred to as Fairness in assessment questionnaire) was first implemented at the University in the academic year 2022/2023.

  • Positive feedback:

    • Value placed on courses that facilitate meaningful discussions and offer a motivating and supportive learning atmosphere.
    • Frequent assignments and detailed feedback are found to be useful for enhancing students’ learning and understanding of the material.
  • Areas for improvement:
    • Align exams with course content, avoiding discrepancies between taught content and assessment questions, and ensure transparency of assessment criteria.
    • Provide adequate guidance and resources for students to complete their assessments effectively, including supplementary materials such as revision sessions and tutorials.
    • Balance and manage the workload throughout the semester, avoiding last-minute assignments and excessive pressure around exam periods.
    • Clearly communicate course expectations, grading criteria and assignment details, using multiple channels to keep students informed.

    • Frustration arises when agreed-upon expectations are not met, leading to a sense of injustice among students.

    • Lack of clarity in course content and absence of evaluation criteria contribute to student dissatisfaction.
    • High workload in some courses make it challenging for student to keep up.
