Programme

The curriculum covers a full-time two-year programme (120 ECTS) with the final semester being dedicated to a dissertation. Students spend semester 1 at the Universidade do Porto and semester 2 at the University of Luxembourg. During semester 3, they stay at the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz and semester 4 at the Universita degli Studi di Palermo. Classes are taught in German.

Course learning outcomes
The students will acquire central systematic concepts and an understanding of how to develop systematic philosophical arguments. In addition, they will become familiar with central systematic positions in various domains of philosophy. A good overview and focus on the fundamental questions will be center stage. The ability to think critically and independently will be trained, and the students will be learnt to develop looking at the connections between philosophy and other disciplines (such as the cognitive sciences, e.g.). -
Description
This lecture will introduce students to systematic philosophy. They will learn some of the most central concepts and positions in various important philosophical areas. The focus will be on clarifying philosophical questions and developing arguments for and against various positions. Criticism of arguments and positions will be a central element. Course learning outcomes
Während des Seminars werden wir uns darauf konzentrieren, Manns Erzählstile und thematische Entwicklungen zu analysieren. Ziel ist es,Einblicke in den historischen und soziokulturellen Hintergrund seiner Werke zu vermitteln und ein Verständnis für die literarischen Techniken und die thematische Komplexität in Manns Erzählungen zu entwickeln.Zugleich sollen die Studierenden ihre Fähigkeiten in der Interpretation und kritischen Diskussion dieser Texte schärfen.Die literarische Analyse wird ergänzt durch die Betrachtung von persönlichen und gesellschaftlichen Themen in Manns Werk sowie deren Einflüsse auf und Nachwirkungen in der Literaturgeschichte. -
