Study Programmes Bachelor in Psychology

Admissions

To apply for a programme at the University of Luxembourg, candidates must comply with the general eligibility criteria for the chosen programme type and be selected by the study programme based on the quality of their application.

Specific information for the Bachelor in Psychology

  • Required degree

Admission to the BAP requires a university entrance qualification, i.e.

    • either the Luxembourgish ‘Diplôme de fin d’études secondaires’
    • or an equivalent diploma (e.g. “Zeugnis der Allgemeinen Hochschulreife”, «Baccalauréat général» etc.)

For a non-Luxembourg secondary school leaving certificate, the equivalence of the diploma must be applied for, subject to a fee, at the Department for the Recognition of Diplomas of the Luxembourg Ministry of Education («Ministère de l’Éducation nationale, de l’Enfance et de la Jeunesse»).
Recognition does not have to be granted at the time of application, but should be submitted before the start of studies. As processing can take several weeks, we recommend submitting your application early. Further information on the recognition of non-Luxembourg secondary school qualifications can be found here: https://guichet.public.lu/fr/citoyens/famille-education/enseignement-secondaire/jeune-recemment-arrive-pays/reconnaissance-etudes/reconnaissance-bac-maturite.html

Applicants with a secondary school leaving certificate from non-EU countries can find information about admission requirements on the University of Luxembourg website; different application deadlines apply to them.

  • Language skills

As the classes are held in German, french ans English, a good knowledge of all three languages is required:

    • German: at least level C1 (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
    • French and English: at least level B2.

Classes are taught in only one of these languages, with the majority of classes (60-65%) being held in German.

If your language skills are not documented (e.g. by your school leaving certificate), please enclose the relevant language certificates with your application: https://www.uni.lu/en/admissions/proof-of-language-skills/#

        • Criteria

When evaluating an application, the grade point average of the secondary school leaving certificate accounts for two-thirds of the overall assessment, and the letter of motivation accounts for one-third.
