Admissions

Applicants need to have successfully completed a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (180 ECTS) in economics, finance, business or management. Students with a bachelor in law, mathematics or IT can also be considered if they have an MBA or a first year of a master in finance and at least 3 years of professional experience in finance.

We accept 12 non-EU and 30 EU applicants into the programme. This makes the Master in Wealth Management very competitive for non-EU applicants, since we usually receive several hundred non-EU applications. Without at least 70% of the maximal grade in the bachelor, the chances of being accepted are very low.

Since the Master in Wealth Management prepares the students for a job in the financial industry in Luxembourg, we just accept students who do the whole Master in Luxembourg. So hence, we do not accept students in the second year of the Master and exchange semester do not make any sense.

The Master in Wealth Management is taught entirely in English but, especially for non-EU students it is important to speak French in order to find a job in Luxembourg, so students should be willing to learn French during the Master.

A part-time status for students in employment is possible, but the Faculty does not guarantee that the course schedule is compatible with the commitments of part-time students. It remains the responsibility of the students to ensure their attendance. More details are available with the Study Programme Administrator.

All non-English native speaking applicants need to be able to demonstrate proficiency of English at B2 level, with one of the following minimum results:
TOEFL iBT: 87/120
TWE: 5
IELTS: 5.5-6.5
Cambridge ESOL: B2

Formal test results may be waived if the student has completed their undergraduate education at an English-speaking university or has extensive experience using English in a professional capacity. Relevant evidence needs to be submitted by the applicant if they are applying on this basis.

As part of the application process, prospective students will need to supply the following documents:

• Full Bachelor (or other) degree transcript, incl. an official English translation if the original is not in English or in French
• Undergraduate diploma or other confirmation of completion (if diploma not yet available), incl. an official English translation if the original is not in English or in French
• Curriculum Vitae
• Motivation letter/personal statement
• Additional documents, such as copy of passport or identity card, photo, etc. may be required by the student services department (SEVE).

Students are selected on the basis of their application file which is assessed by the Admission Board.

Assessment criteria include:

• Existing knowledge, skills and competences acquired during undergraduate degree
• Academic record and grades achieved
• Professional experience
• Motivation, extracurricular and other supporting activities, commitment to higher education and learning

Most important is having bachelor degree from an internationally recognised university with good grades.
But previous professional experience, the motivation of the student, language skills also play a decisive role.
Other relevant information from the curriculum vitae are considered a plus.

We are looking either for brilliant young students coming directly from a bachelor in economics or a little bit older students from various study backgrounds but with a sound professional experience in the finance industry.
