We provide an excellent environment for pursuing doctoral studies at an internationally competitive level and in broad interdisciplinary applications. Each doctoral candidate is offered a research focused training and experience in a stimulating and scientifically challenging atmosphere. Advised by internationally renowned scientists, the doctoral candidates will participate in one of the many interdisciplinary research groups involved in the Doctoral Programme in Computer Science and Computer Engineering, leading to a career in cutting-edge research.

Training

The organisation of the doctoral training activities in the Doctoral Progamme in Computer Science and Computer Engineering is guided by the following principles:

  • A doctoral education is essentially research-oriented, including associated interdisciplinary areas.
  • Formal and informal teaching via seminars, workshops and other course components play an important role. Doctoral candidates actively participate in activities such as doctoral seminars, poster presentations, organisation of scientific events.
  • Balance and flexibility guarantee that all doctoral candidates can tailor their doctoral training both to their research and personal development needs.

The overall objective is to enable the doctoral candidates to acquire both academic and personal skills including:

  • Intellectual, academic and technical skills;
  • Relational skills;
  • Self management skills;
  • Leadership and management.

Admissions

Are you eligible to start the admission process in this Doctoral Programme?

You are eligible to apply for admission to doctoral studies at the University of Luxembourg if you hold a Master’s degree or equivalent, as defined in the law.

Candidates must have successfully completed university studies at master level (or equivalent) in computer sciences, operations research, mathematics, information systems or engineering sciences with a specialty in computer science. Candidates with a background in computational finance, bioinformatics or other related disciplines may also be accepted, based on their motivation and potential for interdisciplinary research.
