To apply for a programme at the University of Luxembourg, candidates must meet the general eligibility criteria for the chosen type of programme and be selected by the academic programme based on the quality of their application.

German B1 (for admission). B2 level must be reached during the course of study and is a condition for obtaining the degree.

OR
Students who have completed their secondary education in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg may be exempt from certificates in the following cases:
(Note: only secondary education will be considered; we cannot accept years spent in primary school, etc.)- They have followed classical secondary education, with 5 years of instruction in French and 4 years of instruction in German.
- They have followed general secondary education, with 5 years of instruction in French and 4 years of instruction in German.
Students who have completed their secondary education in European schools (Schola Europaea), with French and German as L1 and L2 (regardless of the order of L1 and L2 mentioned), are exempt from language certificates in French and German. As an exception, students may also be accepted with German as a L3 under specific conditions (see below, “German B1 Tolerance”).
Students who have completed their secondary education in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in the following tracks must provide a language certificate for one or more languages of instruction:
- International Baccalaureate: a language certificate in German Level B1 must be provided
- IGCSE, AS-levels, and A-levels: a language certificate in French Level B2 and German Level B1 must be provided
Students who have obtained an Abibac are exempt from language certificates, given the bilingual nature of their program.
Any other candidate who has completed their secondary education in Europe, or in a third country, or who does not correspond to the profiles mentioned above, must provide a language certificate for any language other than the primary language of instruction of the obtained secondary school diploma
(Note: A bilingual study program not mentioned in the points above cannot be accepted).Example: a student who has completed their studies in France and holds a general Baccalaureate will not need to provide a certificate for the French language. However, they will need to provide a certificate in German.

The ideal candidate is a student who holds or is in the process of obtaining their secondary school leaving certificate (or an equivalent recognised by the Ministry of National Education of Luxembourg).
