To mark the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the second video of the GirlsinSciTech campaign is now available. This time, the spotlight is on Laurence Lampecco, Analyst Developer at POST Technologies.
Laurence’s journey into technology began at the University of Luxembourg, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science in 2020. While studying, Laurence had to overcome the challenge of entering a field that was still male-dominated, but her passion for technology fueled her drive to succeed. Today, she’s not only excelling in her career, but also serving as an inspiring role model for young girls who are considering a future in the field.
In her current role, Laurence focuses mainly on developing web applications, but that’s not all, her job also brings a large variety of other tasks. This diversity highlights an important point: while many associate computer science with long hours of coding, Laurence knows there’s so much more to it. “It’s not only about coding,” she explains. “It encompasses many other activities and is present in so many different sectors.”
Laurence’s experience highlights that breaking barriers in science is possible, and that women and girls have an important place in this field. She emphasizes, “As a woman, you will bring a different approach to the field.” An approach that is not only complementary but also necessary!
