To apply for a programme at the University of Luxembourg, candidates must comply with the general eligibility criteria for the chosen programme type and be selected by the study programme based on the quality of their application.

Required Degree
The requirement for the Master is a three-year Bachelor degree in architecture covering 180 ECTS, or equivalent. Post-graduates in architecture are welcome to apply too.

In addition to the documents required for the enrolment at the University of Luxembourg, students need to submit the following documents:
– portfolio of your academic design work or projects (maximum 12 pages of work samples in A4 size).
– letter of motivation (maximum 500 words in A4 size).
– detailed CV (Please also indicate your skype name).

Guidelines
The objective of the provided portfolio guidelines is to provide a better overview of the design approach, representation skills, and scope of work covered by the student applicants, as well as to ascertain the likeliness of a successful completion of the Master in Architecture Programme at the University of Luxembourg. The evaluation of your portfolio is for the purpose of admission into this specific Master in Architecture Programme and will not qualify or disqualify you for any other study at another institute or university.

Content
Selected fragments of design and research projects, works in art and display.

Thematic scope
Students are advised to show projects of different typologies/backgrounds, as much as possible within their scope of work (examples: architecture, urban planning, landscape architecture, research, spatial analysis, curatorial work, etc.).

Annotation
Each project should be accompanied by a short description of the work, institutional context (if any, stating whether the project has been completed as part of a seminar, design studio, bachelor, master’s, independent work, etc.), and a clear information on the role of the student in the project (authorship, co-authorship, etc.)

Portfolio Cover Page
Information to be included on the cover page:
- Surname, first name, address
- Academic qualification and duration of previous bachelor studies (and Master if applicable)
- Academic institution, place, country

Criteria
Diversity and design quality of works; projects informed by research and spatial analysis; clarity of main ideas in critical architectural and urban design; representational skills, including the design and clarity of the portfolio itself.

CV
Portfolio should be accompanied by a separate document outlining in list format the candidate’s educational and professional background and skills.

Cover Letter
An accompanying cover letter (max 1A4 page), should state, in candidate’s own words, a short summary of the research and design interests and motivation to study at the Master in Architecture Programme, University of Luxembourg.

Assessment
Assessment of all applications will be conducted by the team of the Master in Architecture, University of Luxembourg. The shortlisted candidates will be invited for an online interview with the selection committee. All of the candidates will be notified with the decision of their acceptance/rejection.
Please note that all applications without portfolios will not be processed and will be voided automatically.

Procedure
The application must be submitted through the online application portal of the University of Luxembourg.
Applications by email will not be considered. If you are short-listed, you will be invited for an interview with the selection committee. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.Selection is based on the submitted dossiers and the personal interview. Admission is limited to a maximum of 36 students per year.
