Research project DigiTechOP

Socio-Cultural Determinants

Socio-cultural determinants explore how social and cultural factors shape the way people experience ageing and engage with digital technologies. This theme looks at how beliefs, values, norms and stereotypes influence behaviours, wellbeing and access to opportunities across the life course.

It highlights the impact of perceptions of ageing, showing how they can affect confidence, health and technology use. By promoting more nuanced and inclusive perspectives, this theme aims to support positive ageing experiences and more equitable participation in a digital society.

  • In this series, Anna Kornadt explores how negative views on ageing can affect health and confidence, and how more positive, realistic perspectives can support wellbeing in later life.

Anna’s main research areas are the influence of views on aging on developmental processes as well as personality and self-development in older age. She is also interested in the understanding of ageism, the psychological foundations of preparation for age-related changes, and the maintenance of health and well-being in later life.
