Faculty Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FHSE)

Melusina Press

Melusina Press serves as the university’s publishing platform. It was initially established to facilitate open access book publishing within the Faculty of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences. Over time, Melusina expanded its reach to support a wide range of research outputs, such as anthologies, proceedings and journals, from both within and beyond the university. As a Diamond Open Access publisher, our primary objective is to serve the academic community. We do not levy any APCs or BPCs, and our publications are available for free in various digital formats under Creative Commons licenses. Moreover, authors retain all rights to their work.

Melusina Press adopts a digital-first methodology to enhance and expedite the publishing process. However, we also provide optional support for print versions, which are distributed to bookstores and online retailers throughout Europe and beyond if necessary. Our publications are readily discoverable and indexed in numerous international citation databases. Furthermore, publishing with Melusina ensures compliance with national and international Open Access mandates.

Melusina Press is a strong advocate for bibliodiversity while being committed to maintaining trustworthiness and quality. All publications are subject to review, with different types of review being accepted based on what is most appropriate and credible within a given field. We clearly state the types of review applied, adhering to the international PRSIM standard to ensure transparency and reliability for all academic stakeholders.

Melusina Press is actively involved in the ongoing evolution of academic publishing while upholding established norms and principles that stakeholders rely on. We accommodate open peer review requests from editors and support the publication of emerging formats such as Data Papers, Executable Papers, Living Handbooks, and Video Essays.
