“Kaleidatascope”
This workshop is designed to sharpen critical thinking skills and encourage participants to reflect on certain ethical issues related to data use. After a general introduction on data science, practical exercises, which can also be carried out with classes, allow participants to critically evaluate data, to interpret statistics and recognise statistical tricks, to learn that graphs can be misleading and that sharing data without control is risky.
As practical examples, the group has a detailed look at the information that companies like Google or Amazon store and use. The participants also discover how one can find out information about a person and how different stories can be written based on the same data set. These activities can help young people learn how to deal with data in a healthy way.
This workshop is held in Luxembourgish.
