Crack the code of a secret message to discover how the brain learns to read. Through this hands-on decoding challenge, you’ll discover how just one little hint can make a wor(l)d of difference!

The many faces of cancer

(English, 50 minutes, 12+ years)

Have you ever thought about why treatment works in some patients but not in others? In this hands-on activity, you’ll explore how scientists are using DNA sequencing to uncover the hidden differences between cancers, and how that can change the way we treat them. Plus, you’ll see how artificial intelligence is becoming a powerful tool to make sense of all that complex data! No lab coat needed, just your curiosity and an open mind!

The immune system and cancer: friend or foe?

(English or French, 50 minutes, 16+ years)

The immune system is our personal bodyguard, protecting us from different diseases. But did you know it can sometimes get hijacked by cancer cells forcing it to help the tumor grow? In this workshop, you’ll discover how cancer can trick and play hide and seek with the immune system.

Defenders of the Digital World

(English, 20 minutes, 12+ years)

Step into the shoes of cybersecurity agents! In this workshop, you’ll role-play as humans and AIs protecting a digital world. You’ll make crucial security decisions and discover where humans and AI shine, fail and why collaboration is key.

Teaching Physics: Hands-On vs. VR

(English, 45 minutes – 2 hours, 12+ years)

Dive into the world of physics through two distinct approaches: explore traditional hands-on experiments as well as cutting-edge Virtual Reality (VR). In this activity, you’ll compare these two approaches while exploring the working principles of an electric motor. Experience the strengths and limitations of each method and discover how both offer unique insights into the fundamentals of the universe.

Launch your own rocket in 3 steps:
1. Learn the basics of rocket science and fun facts about space
2. Design and build your unique rocket

Get to know the basic functions of your immune systems’ cells via a short game called “Immune System Competition”. Understand your adaptive immune system and the steps involved in the production of antibodies.

From Sunscreen to Science: Protect Your Code Like a Pro!

(English, 45 minutes, 12+ years)

Unravel the science behind DNA, UV radiation, and how sunscreen works to protect your genetic code. By extracting DNA from strawberries, building your DNA strands, and making DNA bracelets that can react to UV light you will explore the invisible world of molecular protection.

ADHD – Why so distracted?

(English or German, 45 minutes)

Put yourself in the shoes of people with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) to better understand their daily challenges. The workshop starts with a short interactive introduction to the topic (What is ADHD? How does it manifest? What is happening inside the brain?) including three questions designed to stimulate discussions. Afterwards two tests will simulate two conditions common for individuals affected by ADHD: overstimulation and hyperfocus.
