The Bachelor in Nursing Sciences – Specialisation: Medical Technical Assistant in Surgery prepares graduates for advanced nursing practice in perioperative and surgical care settings, particularly in operating theatres and specialised hospital services.
Graduates contribute to the safety and continuity of care throughout surgical procedures and may pursue further studies at Master’s level in nursing sciences or related health disciplines.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of the programme, graduates will be able to:
- Carry out professional practice in surgical medical technical assistance
- Deploy advanced competencies in specialised nursing practice in clinical surgical environments
- Base nursing practice on evidence from scientific research in nursing sciences
- Promote interprofessional collaboration during specialised care processes to enhance patient safety
- Ensure continuity of care with autonomy and professionalism
- Intervene effectively in complex care situations
More specifically, the medical technical assistant in surgery will be able to:
- Perform advanced assessments of the physical and mental health of individuals, families, and populations
- Manage infectious and perioperative risks in surgical care environments
- Carry out advanced nursing procedures in perioperative care contexts
- Prepare, maintain, and monitor surgical instruments, linen, and dressings required for surgical procedures
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, nurses, anaesthesia teams, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety in the operating theatre
