The Bachelor in Nursing Sciences – Specialisation: Psychiatric Nurse prepares graduates for advanced nursing practice in psychiatric and mental health care settings, including hospital and community services. It also enables graduates to continue their studies at the Master’s level in nursing sciences or related health disciplines.

    Learning Outcomes

    At the end of the programme, graduates will be able to:

    • Carry out professional practice in psychiatric nursing  
    • Deliver specialised direct nursing care (bedside care) to individuals, families, and groups in mental health care contexts 
    • Base nursing practice on evidence from scientific research in nursing science and mental health care 
    • Promote interprofessional collaboration and contribute to coordinated care processes 
    • Integrate ethical, legal, regulatory, and professional standards into nursing practice 
    • Contribute to quality improvement processes in psychiatric and mental health care 

    More specifically, the psychiatric nurse will be able to:

    • Exercise specialised clinical practice in mental health nursing in hospital and community settings 
    • Observe, identify, and assess a person’s resources and difficulties in relation to fundamental needs using a holistic approach 
    • Conduct individual interviews with diagnostic and therapeutic purposes 
    • Support individuals in identifying their resources and developing strategies to achieve a satisfactory state of health 
    • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and members of the care team 
    • Design and implement individual or group socio-therapeutic nursing care projects in collaboration with patients, recognising them as partners in care 
    • Participate in professional development and quality approaches through the promotion of standards, procedures, and evidence-based good practices 
    • Identify clinical issues and participate in or coordinate research projects in nursing science in psychiatry and mental health, contributing to the improvement of care quality
