Research at MobiLab Transport Research Group

A fundamental principle underlying MobiLab’s research is to capture the link between daily activities and the resulting mobility needs. We adopt a multiscale and multimodal modeling approach based on different disciplines and techniques, from mathematics, economics and behavioral theory, to operations research, computer and data science.

Modeling and managing people mobility

Advancing the transport theory and practice

The research philosophy at the MobiLab team is to identify, collect and exploit various sources of data, and select the right modeling and simulation methods to reproduce realistic phenomena such as travel behavior choices, traffic congestion issues and transportation impacts. Following this vision, we apply the three pillars of computational science (data, modeling and simulation) to various applications within transport, mobility and logistics.

The objective of all research done at MobiLab is to contribute to fundamental research in the transport domain, always paying attention to practical applications and policy implications. In this vein, all projects done try to demonstrate solutions in use cases related to real problems, possibly with Luxembourg as case study. Our innovative approaches have attracted significant national, international attention and funding.
