Department Department of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences
Promoting health and quality of life through education and research

Advancing research and healthcare in Luxembourg

The Department of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences is dedicated to improving health and quality of life through excellence in education, research, and clinical engagement. Responsive to national health priorities and connected to international networks, the department addresses major challenges in human health from fundamental discovery to professional practice.

An academic environment where collaboration drives solutions to real-world health challenges

Research and education form the core activities of the department. Within a single academic setting, we conduct fundamental biomedical and health sciences research, drawing on systems and computational approaches and pursuing therapeutic discovery, with strengths in cancer biology, molecular disease mechanisms, signalling pathways, and practice-oriented research.

This breadth creates a distinctive academic environment in which research, education, and professional training coexist in close proximity, enabling exchange and collaboration across disciplines. Delivered in a multilingual and multicultural context, the department’s fourteen study programmes prepare the next generation of scientists, physicians, nurses, midwives, radiogologists, and other health professionals for critical roles within the Luxembourg health system.
