Dr. Benoit RIES

Dr. Benoît Ries is a research scientist, part of the SAGE team of the Department of Computer Science at University of Luxembourg.

His current research interests focus on software engineering methods and tools to model and predict natural ecosystems restoration. A few years ago, he headed the Greenware R&D axis in the BiCS students’ laboratory (headed by Prof. Nicolas Guelfi) to develop these projects at University of Luxembourg.

He taught software engineering at bachelor and master-level at University of Luxembourg and also abroad at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and Innopolis University. Under the leadership of Prof. Guelfi, he played a key-role to the designing, development and successful launch of the Bachelor in Computer Science (BiCS). Recently, he launched an innovative lecture related to GreenIT (and IT for Green) for master students.

Since 2009, he is a permanent research scientist on projects of the LASSY laboratory in the team of Professor Nicolas Guelfi.

In 2009, he obtained his PhD from the University of Luxembourg in collaboration with the IEE company (automotive industry). Previously he obtained a Master of Science at the LORIA laboratory located in the University of Nancy and a Master’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering specialized in “Software Engineering and Information Technology” SIGL at EPITA in Paris.
