The Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM) is pleased to announce the launch of two new scholarships for prospective Master’s students in Engineering: the Fernand Spirckel Scholarship and the Sunflower Seeds ASBL Scholarship. With this initiative, the Faculty is expanding its support fortalented students and, for the first time, introduces a scholarship to encourage women to pursue engineering studies, aiming for more diversity in the field.
Applications are open until 31 May 2026.
Fernand Spirckel Scholarship
Made possible thanks to the contribution of Ms Anne-Marie Spirckel-Albig, the Fernand Spirckel Scholarship offers financial support of €11,875 per academic year, for up to two years, to each selected student. Established in honour of her late husband, a Luxembourgish engineer who was committed to supporting future generations in the engineering profession, the scholarship reflects his enduring dedication to the field.
Sunflower Seeds ASBL Scholarship
As the first scholarship at FSTM designed to specifically support women in engineering, the Sunflower Seeds ASBL Scholarship aims to foster female participation in the field. It provides €12,500 per academic year to one female student, for up to two years.
Eligible Master’s programmes
Both scholarships are open to applicants of the following Master’s programmes:
The scholarships do not include tuition fees and are non-cumulable, meaning candidates can’t apply for both scholarships at the same time.
Eligibility criteria
Candidates should demonstrate strong academic achievement during their undergraduate studies. They must first apply to one of the eligible Master’s programmes; once their programme application has been approved, they may then submit a scholarship application for evaluation.
These scholarships provide valuable financial support to help cover cost-of-living expenses, allowing students to focus entirely on their studies and achieve their academic goals.
