Interactive exploration of toxicities in systemic oncology therapies

Join us for an interactive session organised as part of a collaboration between residents (MEVS) enrolled in the specialised training programme (DES) in Medical Oncology at the University of Luxembourg and healthcare professionals from the Groupe des Soignants en Oncologie (GSO).

Although anticancer treatments have significantly improved patient outcomes, they are associated with sometimes severe toxicities that may impair quality of life, compromise treatment efficacy, and even be life-threatening. Their prevention, early detection, and optimal management are therefore key challenges in clinical practice.

Medical oncology residents will deliver presentations focusing on the toxicities of systemic anticancer treatments. These will take the form of an original and interactive format, structured as a progressive quiz based on clinical cases, in which the audience will be invited to mobilize their knowledge and challenge themselves in order to stimulate collective reflection on the prevention, diagnosis, and management of these toxicities. The session, moderated by Prof. Sophie Servais, will provide an opportunity to exchange knowledge, strengthen clinical skills, and foster interprofessional collaboration. This seminar is part of the PALM project (Peer-Assisted Learning & Teaching in Medicine) initiated by Prof. Sophie Servais and Dr. Xianqing Mao, in close collaboration with Dr. Camila Flores, MEVS representative, which promotes active learning in medical oncology and supports the development of skills in peer teaching, communication, and leadership.
