As part of our ongoing GirlsInSciTech campaign, we celebrate inspiring role models who are breaking barriers in Science, Technology, and Medicine (STEM). Each month, discover their stories, advice, and backgrounds as they pave the way for future generations of girls and women. Today, we kick off the series with a special testimonial from Marie-Alix, a Research Engineer at ArcelorMittal.
Marie-Alix’s journey in science was solidified at the University of Luxembourg, where she pursued her studies in Engineering—a field that allowed her to combine her passion for innovation with her commitment to sustainability. “I’ve always dreamt of making a meaningful impact on the environment, while doing something I love,” says Marie-Alix. Today, this is exactly what she’s doing. She is at the forefront of groundbreaking projects aimed at reducing CO2 emissions in steelmaking processes, a critical challenge for the global manufacturing in industry.
‟ Engineering helps you better understand the world around you and shape the future.”

Her journey serves as a powerful reminder that pursuing a career in STEM is not just about solving technical problems, and that even if the field remains predominantly male-dominated, women and girls can succeed too!
