As tensions escalate in the Persian Gulf, questions remain about the possible outcomes of the conflict and the future of the Iranian regime. In an interview with RTL Lëtzebuerg, Josip Glaurdić, Professor of Political Science at the University of Luxembourg, shares his analysis of the current situation and the broader geopolitical dynamics at play.

Reflecting on recent military developments and political narratives surrounding the conflict, Prof. Glaurdić highlights the uncertainty surrounding potential outcomes, including the possibility of regime change in Iran. He also points to the complexity of the country’s political landscape and the challenges faced by opposition movements.Prof. Glaurdić also notes that the United States may be more interested in reaching a political agreement than pursuing a full regime change, while warning that once military escalation reaches a certain level, it becomes increasingly difficult to step back.

It is to be hoped that some deal can be concluded, because once the war machine reaches a certain level, it is very difficult to row back”
