The Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance of the University of Luxembourg is deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Olivier Poelmans, adjunct professor, and active member of the contract law team. Mr. Poelmans taught at the University for over a decade, sharing his professional experience with students and also contributing knowledge to research groups such as the Groupe de réflexion en droit privé luxembourgeois.
Mr. Poelmans, an eminent contract law specialist, is also the author of a comprehensive textbook on Luxembourg contract law used to teach our students, Droit des obligations au Luxembourg – Principes généraux et examen de jurisprudence (Larcier, 2013).
Mr. Poelmans, Counsel at Clifford Chance Luxembourg and member of the Luxembourg Bar, was an inspiring example of how to successfully link academia and practice. His brilliant scholarship and contribution to the Luxembourg legal system as well as his commitment to our students will be greatly missed by the entire legal community.
