2025 Pierre Werner Scholarship laureates

Following a rigorous evaluation by the Fondation Pierre Werner management committee, four outstanding doctoral researchers have been selected as recipients of the 2025 Pierre Werner Scholarship.

The final decisions on the candidates were made based on recommendations from the University of Luxembourg’s pre-selection committee, comprised of Professors Josip Glaurdic, Pierre Picard, Joana MENDES, and Denise Elaine Fletcher, who is also Head of the FDEF Research Committee.

The recipients of the 2025 Scholarships are:

· Donatella CASABURO (Italian national), pursuing research at the Doctoral School of Law (DSL) on “European Union v. Hybrid Threats: Repurposing the EU Legal Framework to Counter Hybrid Threats?”

· Alexandre MORTELETTE (French national), from the Institute of Political Sciences (IPS), pursuing research on “Civil society participation in the elaboration of human rights standards – case study of due diligence initiatives in Europe”

· Javier SANCHEZ BACHILLER (Spanish national), researcher at the Doctoral School in Economics, Finance, and Management (DSEFM), researching “Essays on Economics of International Migration”

· Susana Isabel TEIXEIRA DE MATOS ROSA (Portuguese national), from the IPS, investigating “Central Banking and Environmental Sustainability: How Monetary Policy Strategies Have Been Shaped Towards Green Objectives”

This scholarship is made available by the Fondation Pierre Werner, under the aegis of the Fondation de Luxembourg, supporting research excellence and academic achievement.
