The annual University Open Day, which took place on Saturday 19 March 2022, welcomed close to 1,500 who flocked to Belval Campus from Luxembourg and the Greater Region to find out first-hand what it is like to study at the University of Luxembourg.
High school pupils, students, parents, teachers and other visitors came to discover the University academic curricula, its campus environment, student life and student services. In addition to offering practical information, the University took advantage of this annual event to showcase its multilingual and international character.
Discovering the faculties and the interdisciplinary centres
The University’s study offer was presented in detail to the visitors, especially the 17 Bachelor’s and 46 Master’s programmes which were presented in detail by the faculties to the future students. In addition, the interdisciplinary centres unfolded their activities and areas of research.
“Everyone was very kind and helped me, they tried to answer my questions in the best way they could; I like the fact that I can speak four languages there; it was all well organised”, said Selma, from Wiltz, Luxembourg, who came to the Open Day to enquire about the Bachelor in Education.
Other important services such as enrollment administrative procedures, student accommodation and student support were presented by the Service des Études et de la Vie Étudiante (SEVE).
The University Open Day programme also included guided tours around the Belval Campus, allowing to get acquainted with the many on-site learning, teaching and student facilities, as well as visits of student residences on campus.
The various stands representing the University community provided information about sports, arts activities, as well as job or internships opportunities. Student associations were also present throughout the day to interact with future University newcomers and guide them to explore their future study environment.
“The whole University was very happy to be able to welcome, on campus and in person again, students, parents and citizens. In education, human exchange is irreplaceable. This Open Day is a celebration of the university community connection with society”, the rector of the University of Luxembourg, Prof. Stéphane Pallage, stated in conclusion of the event.
Students can apply online for admissions to the University of Luxembourg for the 2022-2023 academic year to enrol in the study programmes of their choice.
