A team of interdisciplinary scientists has made a major archaeological discovery on Belval campus: the fossil of a small mammal has been found, and it could well be a very ancient species.

The remnants were unearthed in the car park of the Maison du Savoir during maintenance works. Initial research by the University’s archaeologists and palaeontologists indicates an origin close to the beginning of the first civilisations.

This find is a source of both excitement and surprise for the scientific community. Curiously, the animal seems to have been surrounded by ovoid objects, opening the door to numerous hypotheses. As for the animal itself, it is thought to be quadripedal and similar to a lagomorph.

At first glance, the initial findings suggest an ancient species of rabbit. What were its characteristics? It looks particularly relaxed and well-fed.
