2-tonnes workshop
Join the 2-tonnes workshop and learn how to build a low-carbon and more sustainable lifestyle. Get ready to take action, starting now!
2 tonnes (of CO₂ equivalent) is the average carbon footprint per person that we should aim to achieve by 2050, particularly to meet the commitments of the Paris Agreement. Today, the average in Luxembourg stands at 12,8 tonnes. The challenge ahead is therefore considerable! Changes and a genuine transition are needed.
The 2tonnes workshop is an interactive, science-based and collaborative experience that guides participants in understanding climate stakes and imagining how to reduce their own and society’s carbon footprint. Through dynamic teamwork and a simulation game based on the latest data and scenarios, you will explore the pathways and practical levers for reaching the sustainable target of “2 tonnes CO₂ per person per year” in line with international climate objectives.
Guided by a trained facilitator, the workshop leverages group creativity and simulation tools to inspire engagement and concrete action, empowering everyone to be an actor in the ecological transition—both individually and collectively.
About workshop
During three hours, you and your group will envision different futures and experiment—with your team’s data, as you will have calculated your own carbon footprint in advance using the workshop facilitator’s calculator, —to see the impact of choices and actions on individual and collective carbon footprints. Working together, you will build a strategy to transition towards 2 tonnes, identify real opportunities for change, and discuss the personal, professional, and societal roles needed to achieve climate goals.
A trained facilitator will ensure a dynamic atmosphere, support explanations, foster debate, and make the session as energizing and accessible as possible.
What will you get from the workshop?
- A better understanding of climate issues, the scale of CO₂ emissions, the co-benefits and points of tension surrounding social and environmental issues
- A systemic, up-to-date understanding of the main levers for climate action
- The ability to use data to link everyday actions to large-scale transitions
- Confidence to explain the climate transition target and challenges clearly and accurately
- Concrete tools and motivation to reduce emissions as a student, employee, or citizen—and inspire others to act
