Event location

The StarTech Summer School will take place at Belval Campus of the University of Luxembourg | 2, place de l’Université | L-4365 Esch-sur-Alzette. The campus is located 30 minutes by train from Luxembourg City.

Belval Campus is the University of Luxembourg’s main site. Close to Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg’s second largest city, Belval combines research with teaching and urban life with leisure activities. Once home to Luxembourg’s largest steelworks, this site now features research and learning facilities, the University library and learning centre as well as student accommodation. The campus is located at the centre of an urban district and has excellent connection to public transportation.

How to reach Luxembourg

  • Findel-Luxembourg Airport (LUX) is the country’s international airport, located at 6 km from Luxembourg City
  • It offers direct connections to several European cities, including Toulouse, Rome, Kraków, Düsseldorf, and Stockholm.

  • Luxembourg City has direct connections to neighbouring countries: Belgium (e.g. Namur, Brussels), France (Paris, Metz), and Germany (Trier, Düsseldorf, Cologne).
  • Train timetables can be found on CFL – Luxembourg Railways.

  • Luxembourg is well connected by motorway to neighbouring countries (France, Belgium, Germany).
  • Long-distance buses (e.g. FlixBus) link Luxembourg with major European cities.


How to get to Belval Campus

💡 Public transport (trains, buses, trams) in Luxembourg is free of charge.
For real-time schedules and journey planning, we strongly recommend you to use Mobiliteit or their app Mobiliteit.lu (available for iOS and Android).

By tram
Take the tram to Luxembourg Central Station and then the train to ‘Belval-Université, Gare’ (~30 minutes).

By bus
Two bus routes (6 and 16) take you into the city centre every 10 to 15 minutes. The bus stop is in front of the terminal.
Lines 29 and 223 take you to Luxembourg Central Station (journey time: approximately 25-30 minutes).

By taxi
Taxis are a more costly alternative in Luxembourg. Expect to pay around EUR 40 for a trip to Luxembourg Central Station (15-minute journey).

Direct trains run every 15 minutes between Luxembourg Central Station and ‘Belval-Université, Gare’ station (direction Pétange Gare/Rodange Gare; journey time: around 30 minutes).

Several bus routes serve different stops on the Belval Campus. For more details, plan your trip at Mobiliteit.lu.

Taxis are a more costly alternative in Luxembourg. The fare from the airport to the campus is at least EUR 100, and the fare from Luxembourg Central Station to the campus is around EUR 75.
Different companies are present on the market in Luxembourg. Webtaxi, Uber (via Webtaxi but on their own app), and Letzride (via their application).

Car parks (outdoor and underground) are available throughout the campus, including the Maison du Savoir car park and the Belval Université P+R. Free parking, except in the P+R, may be granted upon registration.
