The University of Luxembourg has launched a training certificate to show the barriers people with autism face every day, and help this group integrate better at school, in the workplace and their social lives.
Autism is often overlooked, even amidst today’s push for diversity. The training aims to repair that by showing participants to learn how to identify, distinguish it from similar conditions and understand diagnostic reports.
“Too many autistic individuals face daily barriers—whether at school, in the workplace, in accessing healthcare, or in their social lives,” explains Andreia Costa, Programme Director of the certificate. “These challenges are not inevitable. They often stem from a lack of understanding. That’s precisely where training becomes essential—by equipping professionals with the knowledge to foster real inclusion.”

With its multidisciplinary structure and strong practical focus, the certificate bridges the gap between theory and real-world application. Recent studies estimate autism affects 1 in 100 individuals—around 6,000 people in Luxembourg—highlighting the urgent need for trained professionals.
