About
Media history investigates the history of individual media (newspapers, radio, television, games etc.) and the media public and asks about the social and political functions of the media. Media history looks at the production, distribution and reception of different media. Furthermore, the mediality of history and thus the importance of media for historical developments is increasingly in the focus of media historical studies. The field moves amongst others between the disciplines of communication studies, media studies, sociology and history.
