Overton develops software to connect research with policy and support evidence-based policymaking. Their platforms provide researchers with tools to understand, analyze and grow their reach and influence within the policy sphere. Overton Index is a policy and grey literature database.

Overton Index description

University staff, professors and students can now access this new database.

Overton Index is the world’s largest policy and grey literature database – it tracks over 19 million documents and automatically finds links to the evidence they reference. Use Overton Index to:

  • Track and analyze evidence use in policy 
  • See the impact of publications in policy making
  • Evaluate publications’ impact and citations
  • Access documents for analysis 
  • Support reporting and research assessment for annual reports, grant applications, tenure applications and evaluations

With full-text search and policy-to-policy citations, users can see how research influence spreads through policy organizations and get a more accurate picture of impact.

Once on the platform, feel free to create a personal account to save your research, data and create alerts.
