On Saturday 28 March 2026, you can participate in an interactive science workshop called “The immune system and cancer: friend or foe?” at the Luxembourg Science Center. At 14:00, 15:00 and 16:00 you can learn more about how cancer cells and the immune system interact:
The immune system is our personal bodyguard, protecting us from different diseases. But did you know it can sometimes get hijacked by cancer cells forcing it to help the tumor grow? In this workshop, you’ll discover how cancer can trick and play hide and seek with the immune system.
The workshop is available for free in the context of a general admission ticket to the Luxembourg Science Center (0-17€). This workshop takes around 50 minutes. Anyone above 12 years of age can participate. The language will be French or English (to be decided on the spot based on the majority’s preferences). This workshop is offered by Joy Darcis, a doctoral candidate at the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH).
This workshop is the last one of a series offered in collaboration with the Luxembourg Science Center (see below). To stay up to date and check out all the offers visit descom.uni.lu. The workshops are carried out by students of the University of Luxembourg in the context of a DESCOM training supported by the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM) as well as the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR) and the André Losch Fondation.
