LCSES

Innovating for our planet’s health

The new Luxembourg Centre for Socio-Environmental Systems (LCSES) is to become a think tank for a more sustainable and equitable world. Our researchers will work on ecologically, socially just, and environmentally friendly solutions to the most pressing challenges facing humanity and the Earth.

Measures for sustainable development emerge from novel narratives grounded on the most up-to-date theories and tailored to environmental conditions and societal needs”

Discover our research

At LCSES, we investigate how societies can navigate global environmental crises—such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and resource depletion—through sustainable and equitable development. Our research focuses on systemic, interdisciplinary approaches to understand the complex interactions between human systems and the environment. We study global commons, governance, biodiversity, food security, and energy transitions, aiming to generate knowledge that supports informed policy, fosters resilience, and drives just, science-based transformations for a livable future.
