Sean-Patrick H. Riechers holds a doctoral degree from the Technical University Berlin. He started his career as a biotechnology engineer in academia and industry, working on a wide range of projects and topics including gene therapy models, heterologous protein production and metabolic engineering, and probiotics screens. He then moved into the neurodegenerative disease field, focusing on protein interactome approaches in different diseases such as Spinocerebellar Ataxia, Huntington’s disease and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) at the Max-Delbrück-Center (MDC) in Berlin. He studied the role of glycolysis in ALS in more detail at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Northwestern University in Chicago before becoming interested in neuroimmunology at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) in Bonn. In August 2022, Sean-Patrick joined the Neuroinflammation group at the LCSB, where his interest and contribution as a Research and Development Specialist concentrate on answering immunology-related questions in neurodegenerative diseases, with a special focus on Alzheimer’s disease.
