Core pillars of our research
Our research is organised around interrelated pillars that span advances in education, management, clinical practice, and the theoretical foundations of the discipline. Using both theoretical and applied research, the team contributes to nursing knowledge, improves the quality and organisation of care, and supports evidence-based practice and health system development in Luxembourg and beyond.
Nursing education
Our work focuses on the development, implementation, and evaluation of innovative pedagogical approaches that prepare nurses to meet evolving professional demands. Key areas include the integration of e-health, health informatics, and simulation-based learning to enhance clinical reasoning, decision-making, and patient safety. Our work also addresses nurses’ professional development and mentorship across initial and continuing education. Lastly, we investigate the teaching and integration of spiritual care within nursing curricula, recognising spiritual needs as a core dimension of nursing care.
Nursing management
We examine organizational, leadership, and safety-related dimensions of nursing care with the aim of improving healthcare quality and system performance. Projects focus on governance models and patient partnership, emphasizing shared decision-making, patient engagement, and collaborative approaches to care delivery. Research also addresses safety and quality issues related to vascular access, including evidence-based practices, risk management, and strategies to reduce complications and improve patient outcomes.
Nursing practice
We conduct research to improve nursing practice across the lifespan, with a focus on paediatric palliative care and elderly care for patients with Parkinson’s disease. Our research in public health investigates nursing contributions to health promotion and cancer prevention. Additional research explores patient-reported outcomes measures to better capture patients’ perspectives on care experiences, as well as critical and emergency care.
