AI Café, a seminar and debate series

AI Café competition 2024

AI Café is a seminar and debate series designed to share knowledge beyond traditional academic settings. It targets both research professionals and the general public. For researchers, the events foster knowledge exchange and collaboration, while for the public, the goal is to inform, clarify complex issues, and answer questions in an accessible way.
The format varies depending on the audience. Specialist lectures typically feature invited speakers delivering 60-minute talks followed by a 30-minute Q&A. Public events, however, prioritise interaction, encouraging dialogue and engagement with attendees to make the experience more inclusive and participatory.

Welcome to the AI Café 2025

In the paper AI – A strategic vision for AI , several policy vision were included to build on Luxembourg’s ambitions as a digital front runner:

  • To be among the most advanced digital societies in the world, especially in the EU
  • To become a data-driven and sustainable economy
  • To support human-centric AI development

This strategic vision included innovations in the public sector, such as promoting smart cities, creating a people-centered and trustworthy understanding of AI in industry and society, developing digital skills, promoting public understanding of AI to ensure digital sovereignty and European alignment, and much more.

As quasi a follow-up to this, the paper “Luxembourg’s AI Strategy – Accelerating Digital Sovereignty 2030” was published a few days ago, which aims to make Luxembourg a living laboratory for AI in Europe against the backdrop of digital sovereignty :

By 2030, Luxembourg aspires to become a country of digital and technological innovation centered on people, agility, sustainability and international collaboration. ”

‘To achieve this, the Grand Duchy is determined to stimulate its digital ecosystem to make it increasingly innovative, dynamic, and agile. To ensure coherence, inclusivity, and collaboration within this ecosystem, both public and private sectors – including research and development – will be heavily involved. Built upon international openness, proven economic dynamism, and unparalleled and highly reliable digital infrastructure, the national ambitions regarding data valorisation, AI, and quantum technologies aim to consolidate Luxembourg’s character as a European pioneer in digital transition, capable of serving as a model and benefiting from the advantages offered by digital technologies. The vision aims to support digital sovereignty, technological and economic progress, and to promote citizens’ well-being.’
