Research Group Complex Systems

Research by the Complex System Group

The Complex Systems group performs research on intricate systems frequently involving several domains (following the so-called “systems of systems” view). This group consequently operates at the nexus between various disciplines, such as environmental science, computer science, medicine, engineering, economics, sociology, security, agriculture, etc.

Impacting science & society

NEXUS::CSR, founded in 2023 by Prof. Christian Vincenot, specializes in the investigation of cryptic dynamics in social, ecological and technological systems. The team boasts a unique “adisciplinary” mindset geared at engineering solutions to support governments, industries and the general public in solving pressing issues.

The team’s award-winning research, which is published in the most prestigious academic journals and regularly featured in media worldwide, has resulted in lasting policy changes at both national and international levels, especially as regards environmental protection.

Achievements by the Complex Systems group also include new technology developments, such as simulation models that explained mysterious biological phenomena, novel wildlife tracking solutions, and COVID epidemic mitigation technologies (e.g. Bluetooth LE contact tracing, which we pioneered).

NEXUS::CSR always welcomes partnership with governmental authorities or the industry to explore solutions to specific challenges.
