Assoc. Prof Ralph USELDINGER

Ralph Useldinger is an Associate Professor in Hard and Advanced Materials
at the University of Luxembourg. He holds the CERATIZIT Chair in Hard and Advanced Materials within the Department of Engineering.

His research focuses on cemented carbide powder metallurgy. The processing and chemical composition of the powder are particularly important aspects of his work, as are its recycling and high-temperature behaviour.

Ralph Useldinger teaches Advanced Engineering Materials at the Master in Sustainable Product Creation and at the Master in Physics.

Prof. Useldinger is a member of the board of directors of the “Association Ingénieurs et Scientifiques du Luxembourg a.s.b.l.” and vice-president of the “Fondation Nicolas et Jean-Paul Lanners”. He’s a member of different scientific committees (Plansee Seminar, European Powder Metallurgy Association, International Conference on the Science of Hard Materials) and advisory boards.

More than 20 years’ experience in industrial R&D at CERATIZIT:

• 2018-2025: Head of R&D Group Analytics and Fundamental R&D
• 2014-2018: R&D Manager Group Analytics and Fundamental R&D
• 2008-2014: R&D Manager for the Business Unit Industrial Wear Parts

Ralph Useldinger studied Chemistry in France (University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne) and got his PhD at the TU-Wien.
