Pablo MARTINEZ AZCONA

Pablo Martinez Azcona is a Doctoral Researcher in the Quantum Dynamics and Control group led by Professor Aurélia Chenu in the Department Physics and Materials Science at the University of Luxembourg.

His research focuses on the inerplay between quantum chaos and open quantum systems. Open quantum systems explore how quantum systems interact with their environment, and through a process called decoherence, they explain how the classical world emerges. Quantum chaos, on the other hand, addresses how the butterfly effect—extreme sensitivity to initial conditions—manifests in the quantum realm.

Pablo served as a teaching assistant for the courses of “Physics Laboratory” for Physics and Medicine first year students, as well as for the Master course on “Nonequilibrium soft and active matter.”

He received a scholarship from the FNR to attend the prestigious Lindau Nobel Laureate meeting in Physics of 2024.

He started his PhD at the university of Luxembourg on October 2021, during which he spent 5 months as a visiting PhD student at Charles University in Prague under the supervision of Professor Tomas Mancal.

Pablo has received his Bachelor degree in Physics from the University of Zaragoza and a Master in Quantum Science and Technology from the University of the Basque Country.

During the completion of the master thesis he spent 3 months at the university of Luxembourg as a visiting master student.
