Gianni PETRELLA

Gianni Petrella is a Doctoral Researcher at the University of Luxembourg, in the Department of Mathematics.

His research involves the geometry of moduli spaces of quiver representations, their derived categories and various aspects of their algorithmic properties. He also co-develops software that studies these geometric objects. His work is supported by the Luxembourg National Research Fund (AFR-17953441)

He has been a teacher assistant for Algèbre, in the Mathematics Bachelor programme, and for Linear Algebra I, in the Physics and Computer Science Bachelor programmes. He has cosupervised several projects in the Experimental Mathematics Lab, and has supervised a seminar project.

Gianni Petrella has served as Jury member in ETEAM, a European mathematics competition for high-school students. He previously collaborated with eXtemporanea, an Italian collective dedicated to scientific outreach.

He obtained his Bachelor degree with great distinction at the Université Libre de Bruxelles; he obtained his Master degree with the greatest distinction at the Université Libre de Bruxelles. He spent a semester in the Bachelor and the last year of Master at EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland, where he successfully defended his Master thesis, through the Swiss-European Mobility Programme.
