Current position
Farida Baraka is a Research Support Engineer within the Technical Support Unit (TSU) of the Department of Engineering at the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine, University of Luxembourg. Farida Baraka provides technical and scientific support to research activities, contributing to the smooth operation of research projects and experimental work across the department.
Work experience
Farida Baraka obtained her PhD in Renewable Polymers Engineering from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) in 2024. During her PhD, she worked on bio-based polymer materials, including nanocellulose hydrogels, aerogels, and papers. She also spent several months as an invited researcher at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), working on cellulose-based aerogels for CO₂ adsorption.u003cbru003eu003cbru003eAfter completing her PhD, she worked as a Research Associate in Spain, contributing to research projects on bio-waste valorization, green solvents, and polymer materials for wastewater treatment. Since 2025, she has been working as a Research Support Engineer at the University of Luxembourg, providing technical and laboratory support for research activities and projects.
Educational background
Farida Baraka holds a PhD in Renewable Polymers Engineering from the University of the Basque Country (Spain/France). She obtained her Master’s degree in Polymer Chemistry for Energy and Health from CY Cergy Paris University. Her academic training, combined with extensive research experience in sustainable polymers and advanced material characterization, provides a strong foundation for supporting cutting-edge research in polymer science and sustainable materials.
