    STORMLAND

Urban stormwater runoff has been recognized as an important source for water quality pollution. Its characterization and monitoring have often been limited to the presence of conventional compounds such as organic pollutants, nutrients, solids, and heavy metals but not enough information is given to emerging pollutants in very low concentrations (micropollutants).

Micropollutants (MPs) in water bodies, such as pharmaceuticals and industrial chemicals, are drawing increased attention due to their persistence and potential harm to aquatic ecosystems and human health. Their ineffective removal by conventional wastewater treatment systems leads to their accumulation in water bodies, potentially disrupting aquatic ecosystems and impacting the well-being, behaviour, reproduction, and survival…

    QualiSûre

Within the framework of two Interreg GR projects (Emisûre and CoMinGreat ), innovative technologies have already been developed to remove micro-pollutants from the effluent of wastewater treatment plants. It has been investigated at which wastewater treatment plants (on the Luxembourg side of the Sûre River as well as a catchment area in Saarland) these technologies…
