Dear FSTM Community,

This month, we conducted the research evaluation of our departments. Domain experts assessed not only the quality of research but also its alignment with our educational programmes and outreach efforts. The preliminary feedback was highly positive.

This exercise proved invaluable, beginning with an in-depth introspection, followed by a peer review that laid the groundwork for future actions and continuous improvement. Notably, it highlighted synergies within the university’s strategic focus areas—health, digitalization, and sustainability. These insights will undoubtedly strengthen the foundation for our upcoming four-year plans and unlock numerous opportunities for interdisciplinary research.

Additionally, new outreach and education initiatives will further strengthen the university’s core missions. Beyond citizen science initiatives, the partnership offices at both FSTM and the central level (PAKTTO) are co-developing new Public-Private Partnership (PPP) frameworks and spinoff incentives. On the education front, future plans include new study programmes in medicine and nursing, as well as initiatives promoting lifelong learning and interdisciplinary knowledge.

Kind regards,
Pascal
