The University of Luxembourg launches a new Bachelor in Life Sciences, offering a three-year venture into science, with a strong emphasis on biology and bioinformatics. Designed to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, the programme is set to prepare the next generation of life scientists for a variety of careers in academia, research, and beyond.

Tailored tracks for career specialisation

Starting from the 1st year of their Bacelor’s degree, students will have the choice between a track in Biology and in Biomedicine, based on their interests and career aspirations.

  • The Biology track provides students with a broad foundation in biological sciences, opening up a wide range of career opportunities upon graduation. Graduates can continue with a research or applied masters course, to engage with careers mainly in teaching and applied research. With a Master, many opportunities become available, namely in education, research and industry.
  • The Biomedicine track is tailored for students aiming for a career in biomedical research. With a strong focus on data science and bioinformatics, they will gain a deep understanding of how biological data can be used to solve complex medical problems. Upon graduation, students can continue with a research or applied masters course, to engage with careers mainly in research and development.

A double-degree with a partner university across the world

In an increasingly globalised world, the University of Luxembourg offers students the exciting opportunity to expand their horizons through international collaboration. As part of this programme, students can choose to spend up to two semesters at one of the University’s partner universities across Europe or beyond. This unique opportunity provides them with exposure to different academic environments, cultures, and research methodologies.

Upon successful completion of this international experience, students will be awarded a co-degree from both the University of Luxembourg and the partner institution, further enhancing their academic credentials and broadening their professional networks.

A unique learning experience

Designed to address the dynamic challenges of the scientific and biomedical fields, the Bachelor in Life Sciences integrates cutting-edge research techniques, interdisciplinary learning, and a blend of theoretical and practical knowledge Through up-to-date research methods, a focus on interdisciplinary skills, and a seamless connection of theory with practice, the programme equips students with the knowledge and experience needed to thrive in their future careers. Additionally, the small student cohort promotes a more personalised and focused learning experience.

With only 25 annual admissions across both tracks, this Bachelor programme supports a unique learning experience through an intense dialogue between students and instructors. It fosters the consolidation of applied linguistic competences in the French- and English-taught classes distributed across the curriculum.
On top of that, students have the opportunity to earn a double degree with one of our partner universities, providing a valuable asset to their experience!
