During the week of 26 to 30 September 2022, the University of Luxembourg welcomed young doctors who have started their specialisation studies in general medicine, neurology and medical oncology on its Limperstberg campus. The introductory week was launched in the presence of numerous representatives from the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, teachers, colleagues from the offices of general practitioners and from Luxembourg hospitals.
At the end of this week of collective teaching, the young doctors in specialised medical training were able to ask their questions and exchange views with Professor Dr. Gilbert Massard, Director of Medical Education, Mr. Pierre Misteri, advisor for the coordination of legal affairs at the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, as well as representatives from the “Association Luxembourgeoise des Médecins en Voie de Spécialisation” (ALMEVS).
This academic gathering provided our teams with a working platform and a dynamic exchange of ideas in order to ensure the quality of the “Diplôme d’études spécialisées en médecine” (DES) program and the well-being of our MEVS.
We are very pleased to announce that the University of Luxembourg has recruited 24 young doctors specialised in general medicine (9 enrolled in the 2nd year and 15 enrolled in the 1st year), 5 in medical oncology and 5 in neurology (2 enrolled in the 2nd year and 3 enrolled in the 1st year respectively).
We will continue our efforts to improve this ambitious project, with the support of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, aiming to provide Luxembourg with our future doctors in medicine.
“Welcome to the University of Luxembourg! We are delighted to welcome you and to offer you a varied and comprehensive training, in line with national and European recommendations. We wish you the best of luck in your training and look forward to accompanying you on your way to becoming a general practitioner or specialist in neurology or medical oncology,” Prof. Dr Gilbert Massard, Director of Medical Studies.
