In December 2023, the University of Luxembourg organised four talks to discuss the latest developments in artificial intelligence, smart grids and its application in engineering. Students, researchers and professionals attended these events on Kirchberg campus.
Prof. Math Bollen, Professor in electric power engineering at Lulea University of Technology, shared his research contributions to power-system protection, power-system reliability, integration of renewable electricity production and smart grids.
Dr. Abir Gallala, Business Development Manager at ArcelorMittal, presented the main advances in health monitoring. She explained the significance of steel sheet pile structures and how to use them for structural health monitoring solution.
Prof. Ghada Bouattour, Professor of measurement and sensor technology at Leuphana University focuses on the potential of battery-free wireless sensors. She explained how these batteries have the potential to revolutionize smart manufacturing by addressing some of the limitations associated with traditional sensor technologies.
Prof. Arash Lavasan, Professor in geotechnical engineering and geomechanics at the University of Luxembourg, presented his research to design optimal monitoring system in underground construction focusing on uncertainty reduction in numerical modelling.
The four talks were organised by Prof. Inès Chihi from the laboratory Advanced Engineering and Smart Sensor Solutions (AE3S) at the University of Luxembourg.
