AI in cybersecurity: experts exchange about its challenges

On the occasion of the ninth edition of the Information Security Education Day (ISED) which took place on 7 June 2024 in Belval, around 70 experts from academia and industry discussed the new trends in AI and cybersecurity.

After an introduction by Dr. Nicolas Mayer, senior R&T associate at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) and Course Director of the Master in Information Systems Security Management (MISSM) who welcomed the participants and presented the Master, Dr. Maxime Cordy, research scientist at the University of Luxembourg, introduced the theme.

Then, six experts from renowned associations and companies shared their knowledge and experience related to the theme. Medhi Famibelle, artificial intelligence engineer at Deloitte explained the current adoption of large language models and its security risks ; Anusha Moonshiram, vice-president of Women Cyber Force, examined the evolving cyber landscape along with the market size and duality of AI in cybersecurity ; Catalin Tiganila, consultant and member of ISACA, presented the AI risk framework proposed by ISACA Luxembourg Chapter ; Johann Alessandroni, Information Security Governance Team Leader at Excellium Services, introduced how to manage cybersecurity issues and protect AI systems ; Theodora Ciungan, principal security leader at Amazon, talked about the capabilities to bolster overall cybersecurity defences by identifying threats and helping companies ; Mohamed Fawzi, security and compliance lead at Google Cloud, invites the audience to navigate the path to secure and responsible AI implementation together.
