- Public transport is free in Luxembourg! Public transport in Luxembourg is completely free! Whether you’re traveling by train, tram, or bus, no ticket is required for standard travel within the country. The only exceptions are first-class train tickets or international rail journeys. To easily plan your trips and check schedules, you can use the Mobiliteit.lu app, which provides real-time information on public transportation across Luxembourg.
- Ride a bike: There is a bike-sharing system in Luxembourg, prior to your registration to the service Vël’Ok. Here is some more information about biking in Luxembourg.
- Trains: Luxembourg City has a fast train connection (2h15 time) to Paris Est. To reach Esch or Belval you may consider changing train in Bettemburg or Thionville.
- Findel Airport: The international airport Findel (LUX) is connected to Luxembourg City by a tram line.
- Charging cars: For electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles you can locate charging points in Luxembourg with Chargy.
- Taxi: Taxis are very expensive (from Findel to Kirchberg you can expect a 75€ fare). If you must take a taxi, consider for example the electrical fleet of Webtaxi.
- Carsharing/Carpooling: Consider for example the electrical fleet of Carloh and the carpooling platform Klaxit.
- Parking: We do not provide parking at the Kirchberg Campus only for conference purposes (take the Free Public Transport!), Nonetheless, there are various parking spaces in Luxembourg City. Another possibility could be the Park+Ride at the train station in Luxembourg City and then connecting to Kirchberg via tram.
Luxembourg offers a wide range of accommodation options, from modern hotels to cozy guesthouses and serviced apartments. For a convenient stay, we recommend choosing accommodations in the city center or Kirchberg. While the Gare (train station) area provides many cheaper hotel options, it is best to avoid staying there due to its less tranquil atmosphere. Booking early is advised, as hotels can fill up quickly, especially during major events.
