Assoc. Prof Slawomir KEDZIORA

Slawomir Kedziora is an Associate Professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Luxembourg. He leads the Computer-Aided Engineering & Additive Manufacturing research group within the Department of Engineering. Prof. Kedziora is the Study Program Director of the Master in Sustainable Product Creation.

His research focuses on additive manufacturing, machine designs and their structural analyses. KEDZIORA has published over 50 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and conferences as author and coauthors. Additionally, he actively supports the industry through ongoing research and development projects with the industry. He has supervised four PhD candidates who have completed projects and currently supervises the next three PhD students.

Teaching activities concentrate on machine design lectures and projects as listed below:

(2014 – present), Machine Design I, II, III in 2^nd and 3^rd year of the undergraduate program
(2014 – present), Machine Design in 1^st  year of the Master program
(2014 – present), Machine Design Project in 1^st year of the master’s program
(2014 – 2015),  Design Construction Exercises in the civil engineering program, at 1^st year master. Supervision of projects and theses of bachelor’s and master’s students. In addition, supervision of doctoral students and active participation in committees assessing the progress of doctoral projects.

Prof. Slawomir KEDZIORA studied and worked in the field of applied mechanics at the Technical University of Lodz, where he received his doctorate in applied mechanics in 2000, working as an assistant and then as an assistant professor. He started his career in the automotive industry as a Reliability Engineer in Delphi, quickly progressing to the role of Senior Experimental Engineer in 2002. Later in 2008, he started working at EATON as an Engineering Specialist in Stress Engineering. In 2013, he was recruited as a Principal Engineer at DNV GL, an esteemed company with its domain in the marine industry. The core of his activities in the industry centered on Reliability and Stress Engineering, with a particular focus on the holistic design of mechanical and civil engineering structures. In 2014, he joined the University of Luxembourg as an associate professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM), with the task of passing on a legacy of knowledge to the next generation.

Prof. Slawomir KEDZIORA pursued his studies in applied mechanics at the Lodz University of Technology, where he was awarded a PhD degree in Applied Mechanics in the year 2000. His PhD thesis was titled “Ultimate Load Capacity of Orthotropic Thin-Walled Beams-Columns with Open and Closed Cross-Sections in the Elastic-Plastic Range”.
